‘Text neck’ is a term used to describe the forward flexion and downward tilt of the head, usually caused by prolonged use of smartphones, other handheld devices and computers.
This neck position places excessive strain on the cervical spine, leading to pain and discomfort in the neck and upper back.
A study published in the journal "Spine" found that for every inch the head tilts forward, the pressure on the spine doubles. So when the neck bends forward at a 60-degree angle, typical of texting posture, it exerts a staggering 60 pounds of additional force on the neck.
